Who we are in Christ

We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Matthew 5:13-16 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) Believers Are Salt and Light 13  “ You are the salt of the earth . But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men. 14  “ You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.   15  No one lights a lamp   and puts it under a basket, [ a ]   but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house.   16  In the same way, let your light shine [ b ]   before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. The Spoken Word

Proverbs 14 New International Version (NIV) 3  A fool’s mouth lashes out with pride,      but the lips of the wise protect them. Proverbs 15 New International Version (NIV) A gentle answer turns away wrath,      but a harsh word stirs up anger. 2  The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge,      but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. 4  The soothing tongue is a tree of life,      but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit. 23  A person finds joy in giving an apt reply —      and how good is a timely word! 28  The heart of the righteous weighs its answers,      but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. Matthew 15:18-20 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) 18  But what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this defiles a man.   19  For from the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false testimonies,   blasphemies. 20  These are the things that defile a man, but eating with unwashed ha

Gossip

1.  What does the bible say about "Gossip"?  The Bible is very clear that our what comes out of our mouth is a overflow of our heart.  (Luke 6:45).  And there are many many verses that command us to control what we say (Ps 141:3; Prov 10:19; Prov 17:27-28,James 3:7-10).  Even more important, the Bible speaks of how powerful our words are.  They speak life or death (Prov 18:21), they have power to make or break someone (Prov 15:1,4) or a situation.  We will all be held accountable for each word ( Matt 12:36-37).   If we can control our tongue, then we can control our whole body  (James 3:2-5).   Gossip, according to what we know gossip to be, is by definition: idle-talk, tale-telling, talking-much, slander; evil report, defamation, unfavorable saying, whispering.    According to this definition, it appears as if it can be anything that is negative.  And a brief look into the Hebrew of those words confirms that it was also translated as hypocrite, subtle, deceit.  These

Only One Rule: Love

Matthew 23:13 New International Version (NIV) 13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. When Jesus was criticizing anyone, it wasn't the mainstream people. He criticized leaders of the church and called them hypocrites, snakes, brood of vipers. The leaders of the church were supposed to be showing everyone the love, knowledge and wisdom of God. Instead of being a light on a hill that shined God's light and provided a light to climb out of the darkness, they shunned those in the dark and hid it behind their back. These actions indicate that they thought these people weren't good enough for the light. They might not have said it in words, but actions speak so much louder. So many people i meet want nothing to do with God, Jesus, the church, because they don't want to be judged. They want to be acc
