Two Trees
I have heard it said from very very promient people, whom I love in Christ and whom have walked all their lives with God, that in the Garden, at the fall, the serpent appealed to Eve using the 3 temptations, which are the same temptations he used for Jesus in the wilderness and the same temptations we all come across. They say every temptation is one of these:
1. Lust of the Eyes
2. Lust of the flesh
3. pride of life.
And they say that is because in the garden, Eve saw that the fruit of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil was:
1. Pleasant to the eye
2. Good for food
3. desirable for gaining wisdom
But in my studies, i found more expansion on this and the holy spirit enlightened me even more.
All of the trees in the garden were the first two... pleasant to the eye and good for food. But only the tree of knowledge of good and evil was also "desirable for gaining wisdom".
Of our triparteid nature, All of the trees of the garden appealed to
1. spirit - pleasant to the eye
2. flesh - good for food
Notice, spirit... vision... pleasant to the eye.. is mentioned first...
but only the tree of the knowledge of good and evil appealed to the soul.. putting the soul as more important than all... this part of us wasn't mentioned at all before the temptation into the fall excepted that when God breathed into us the breath of life, we became a living soul (Pseuche)
3. soul - desirable for gaining wisdom.
Before the tree was eaten, the soul wasn't prominent... didn't lead the body, certainly didn't lead the spirit. All wisdom was already ours, we didn't need to get wisdom.
I find it curious that the word for sight here is .. yes, seeing, but also visions. Makes me wonder.
We know there is a counterfeit world... or counterfeit spirit...
you can see the Spiritual things through God's eyes, or through the fallen world's side. I don't want to dignify the Satan by mentioning his title too often, as we all know he only wishes he had a kingdom the strength of God's kingdom. He is the deceiver and wants us to believe he is at least as powerful if not more powerful. HA! Not even close!
With God, we can already know, see both sides... if we allow HIM to lead us, guide us into all truth. then we can see through HIS wisdom, not the wisdom of the world, through the spirit not the flesh. In the counterfeit world, there is a counterfeit to all God intended. All God intended can be used for Good or Bad. God turns all things the Satan tries to do into Good for those who Love God and are in line wit his purposes.

1 John 2:16 tells us, “For everything in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — comes not from the Father but from the world.” In this passage of Scripture, the Apostle John tells us that there are three things the world will tempt us with: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
