Parallel Gospels 7 - The beginning of Jesus' Ministry in Galilee

Matthew 4:12-17Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Ministry in Galilee

12 When He heard that John had been arrested, He withdrew into Galilee. 13 He left Nazareth behind and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
15 Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
along the sea road, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles!
16 The people who live in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those living in the shadowland of death,
light has dawned.[a][b]
17 From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!”

Mark 1:14-15Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Ministry in Galilee

14 After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, preaching the good news[a][b] of God:[c] 15 “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe in the good news!”

Luke 4:14-15Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

14 Then Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread throughout the entire vicinity. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, being acclaimed[a] by everyone.

When:
* after John was arrested (Matthew and Mark)
* after the wilderness temptations (Luke).

Where:
* He withdrew into Galilee.
*  He left Nazareth behind and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.

In this map, you can see Galilee, Capernaum, and Nazareth.

Here is the land of Zebulun and Naphtali from the Time of Joshua:

Here is that same land now:

Galilee must be like a state or a big city with suburbs.  Because when Gabriel told Mary she was going to give birth to Jesus, he visited the town of Nazareth in Galilee.

And when they return home, in Luke 2, it says they "returned to Galilee, to their own city Nazareth"
