  3. 4:30 - Nicodemus trip to Capernaum w wife, pulled by cart, quintus comes to him to get him to stop people from fishing on shabat.  he and his wife are well dressed, riding in a cart being pulled by 4 men wearing linen.  Roman solder quintus says the only official business is roman business, wanting to assure all taxes are collected.. so they are heavily taxed.. all soldiers wearing red with head gear.  Quintus mentions others that serve god that are Nico's enemies are saduces, essenes, zealots, rogue preachers in the wilderness going on about a coming messiah

    1. nico speaking to students of Shmuel in Capernaum and mentioning men fishing on shabat, the magnificient sea of gallilee,   and their sea back home is dead.   lots of good fish in sea of galilee.   the messiah not coming until we are all clean.  God entrusted them to be examplary 
    2. 10:23 rabbi shmuel and Yusif preparing for nico - schmual tell joseph to fix his talit.  explanations of fishing on shabat is greed from shmuel because roman's don't patrol on sabbath, but yusif says they are trying to feed their families.

    1. Matthew gets dropped off but far from his tax booth.. the driver mentions that he would not be able to shed the stink he would get for taking him in his cart.  Matthew walks through the market place and people spit and yell at him.   Gauis the centurion comes a little late, his job is to guard and protect matthew.  he also has the key to the tax booth.  there is a line of dirty faced peole in dirty clothing, waiting for the tax booth to open.   people in line, all women wearing something on their head, some men. lots of men waring satchels.  lots of booths selling things, roman soldiers on horseback.

  7. 15:48 - Priests go to the Red Quarter
    1. centurion leads the 3 priests through the red quater.. dirty women, men, people still trying to sell things,  people holding snakes,   nico materials needed, sulfur, nettles, hyssop, wormwood.

  8. 18:05 - Simon fighting for Money 
    1. simon fighting with his wives brothers, men betting on them for money. all men wearing "dresses" and sandals.   belts on.  drining out of clay cups.
  9. 20:12 - Fishing on Shabbat 
    1. simon and andrew on coast by boat.  Simon said pharisees make allowances for people breaking torah if people's lives are at stake.   Simon mentions andrews bug eating friend, John the baptist.   
      • According to this search, the rule of Pikuach Nefesh says that if a persons life, health or mental safety is in immediate danger, virtually any Torach commandment may be broken.  Only 3 commandsmnets are exempt from this:  Idolatry, sexual immorality, and murder.   Also, Jewish law holds a person blameless for transgressions committed under genuine duress.  Mishnah Yoma (Chapter 8:6,7)
  10. 22:06 - The Attempted Exorcism 
    1. back to red quarter  - broke down her door.   they call mary lillith while she is demon posessed.   words said for exorcist.. bringing up angels, and patriarchs.  el shaddai.  other priests barely saw her but later recognized her in the market.  when the demons spoke thru her, there were multiple voices, "we are not afraid of you, you have no power here teacher".   in fear he left. 
  11. 25:16 - Simon back at home
    1. simon comes home after night of fishing on shabat. - his wife mentions him fighting with her brothers.  his wife not wearing things on her hair in the house.  
  12. 28:04 - Mary awakens in the Red Quarter
    1.  back to mary, remembering her father and the verse of isaiah.  mary goes back to her destroyed home.  memory of her father passing.  wooden doll she got from him.   rolled up paper woth verse written on it.  sees a roman solder, reminded of trauma at the hands of a roman soldier.  
  13. 31:23 - Mary at the Bar
    1. mary goes to bar - its like an underground bar with a password to get in.   men casting lots or playing something like a dice game.  they gave her soup just fresh off boat from cypress.  she gives the doll to the server, for his nephews.  boys played with dolls?   bar custoemers yell at him and call him eunich.

  14. 34:54 - nico back at the place he is staying.  
    1. Nico mentions how we might not understand god's law speaking of him.  she said its blasphemy and never should be mentioned again. she mentioned erudite teacher.. didn't i hear erudite in the divergent (first movie in the series).  she said "from now on, stick to the academy and leave exorcism to the exorcists".    she said "you spoke the words, the demon did not respond".  like there was some magic formula they thought would expel demons. 
  15. 38:29 - back to matthew at the market.  
    1. with No guard, no ride, he decides to walk home.   andrew heading to tax collector booth.  Simon getting ready to go to market. 
  16. 39:18 - Nico teaching
    1. nico back to talking to Rabbi's shmuel's students.  He reviewed his attempt to exorcise the woman. he mentioned when we follow god's law to the letter, god is alive in us.. if you follow his law.  
  17. 40:28 - mary at the cliff 
    1. is this the same cliff they tried to throw jesus off (at least in this series). she sees a dove.  distracts her and she follows it 
  18. 41:44 - simon and andrew to tax collectors booth.   
    1. people have tax bill and money bag in hand. 
  19. 45:26 - simon and andrew at the bar
    1. same bar that mary goes to.   he mentioned merchant ships  getting all the fish. 
  20. 47:53 - matthew and gaius going to see quintus.  
    1. gauis calls them sea rats and indicates the violent dominant nature of quintus.
  21. 48:13 - mary following the dove    
    1. which leads her back to the bar..  she asks for alcohol.  Jesus is there.   the demons are bothered by his presences.  she tells him to leave her alone, runs away, he follows and calls her by her real name.. and recites the verse that she has always recited with her father.  Jesus puts his hands on her head and the demons leave.  She is healed.

in this first episode, Jesus helps her first, calls her first.

Questions I ponder:

I imagine, based on sermons i have heard and things i have read, that the reason that the demons affected Mary is possibly because of some trauma in her past, but also, any time that satan is going hard after someone it is because they somehow know how effective this person will be for God.  If this last statement is true, then, how did they know she would be effective for God?  It is my understanding that they don't know the future.  perhaps they see God working on her behalf?

They don't make God move.. God makes them move.

Even if our church doesn't tell us, or we don't seek and find it ourselves, God still talks to us and through prophets.  Not all prophets who get things wrong are false prophets, some are just immature and haven't yet learned how to fully understand God and his ways.
