Lesson 2 - the Aleph and Bet
Aleph - strength, ox, chief (leader),
Gematria - the number 1
Kabbalah meaning: Aleph means one, unity, the current aleph is made up of two yods with a vav between them, the two yods (one pointing up and one pointing down) represent the higher world and the lower world. The Vav separates the two. Aleph represents the creation of something from nothing.http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/alphabet_letters_aleph.html
Kabbalah meaning - the beginning of duality. The creator giving the created world. this creates the ability have opposites, yes and no, hot and cold, man and woman. The created physical world is meant to HOUSE the spiritual.
The duggesh below determines whether the Bet is pronounces as a "B" sound or a "V" sound
Prefix - the Bet is often used as a prefix to a word, which means "IN". The word below is land, but with the Bet in front, it means IN the land. (or with). Since Bet is house or tent, we could see it as to house something is to be in something.. just a thought.
This is the Vowel Qamets. it is a short A sound like Ahhh.
The patahh vowels also makes the Ahhh sound.
when the Qamets or patahh is placed under the Bet with the duggesh, it is pronounced Bah.
Letter/Sound Practice
Putting together what we have learned, here is some practice
In our english language, word patterns are inconsistent and can be confusing. Sometimes it is consonant-vowel-vowel-consonant, and sometimes it is one of many other mixtures.
But in Hebrew, the vowel and consonant always alternate.
As shown here: (Hebrew is from right to left instead of left to right)
Word Practice
and here is some practice for syllables (it helps to remember in all the cases below, the ending Aleph is silent)
When we put these syllables together:
Sentence Practice
Father is the Aleph and then the Bet, the 1 and then the 2, or 12, when added together it is 3. Aleph is strength or leader, and Bet is house.. the Father is the leader or strength of the house or family.
And we can make a sentence
the colon is like a period. Remember, in Hebrew we read from right to left.

Lesson 3 - the Mem and Yud
Mem - water, chaos (because of the storms of the sea), mighty (because the seas is massive), blood, people (water often represents people/nations)
Gematria - the number 40, 40 represents the time needed to ripen - associated with 40 days for the development of an embryo, 40 days and 40 nights of rain, 40 days on the mountain, 40 years in the wilderness.
Kabbalah meaning - the waters of wisdom, the Torah - the ocean of knowledge. In all of us is the thirst for the words of the creator. The open mem refers to revealed truth (open wisdom) as demonstrated by Moses, the closed refers to concealed truth (mysteries, closed off ) as demonstrated by the Messiah, the revealer of Mysteries. It is composed of a Vav and a Kaf.
Here is the Mem and the Mem Sophit. The 2nd one is only when the Mem is at the very end of a word. (the final mem)
Prefix - if Mem appears at the beginning of a word, it means "FROM". Here it means from the land.
Yud - looks like an arm, hand. means work, make, throw (actions by the hands)
Kabbalah Meaning - the creator, the single point from which creation sprang forth and unity within multiplicity. it represents the power of the spirit to govern and guide.
The Yod is the smallest of letter, the "atom" of the consonants, the form from which all other letters begin. Since it is the smallest letter, it also represents humility. This letter is the first letter in the formal name of God.
Gematria - the number 10, the number of completion
http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/alphabet_letters_yud.html
https://www.hebrew4christians.com/Grammar/Unit_One/Aleph-Bet/Yod/yod.html
Suffix - When the Yud is made a suffix, at the end of a word, it means MY. In the example below, it means MY land. Since the original Yud was a hand or arm, we could think of it as a hand grabbing the object itis representing and taking it for itself, as if to say "this is mine".
Prefix - The word Ba learned above , which means "He came" is past tense. But when Yud is prefixed to a word, it changes the word to present tense. The below now becomes "He comes" or "He is coming
Another example, "He said" (below) which is past tense, but when adding the Yod at the beginning, it changes to "He Says", now present tense
Here is the word Yom, (present tense) which means "Sea" like the Mediterranean Sea (the Mem is a final mem). When we add the suffix Yud-Mem it becomes Yamim. The final-mem above changes to a regular mem, the mim below is added because it is now plural to make it present tense. This is "Seas"
Here is another vowel. Makes the "ee" sound
The tsere makes the "ey" sound.
Letter/Sound Practice
Syllable Practice
Mother - the first letter is the Aleph (strength, leader) and the second is the Mem (water, chaos, mighty, people)
Who - first letter is Mem (water, chaos, mighty, people), the second letter is Yod (work, make, throw). i don't know about this one.
For the below sentences, please take note of the following. The first line has a question mark at the end. It looks very similar to our question mark, Also, in English, we have the noun as the subject placed before the verb, but in In Hebrew, it is the verb and then the subject
(see My father came, my father comes after the verb came)
===================================================================
Lesson 4 - the Nun and Hey
Nun The nun and the nun-sophit (changes when it appears at the end of a word, just like the mem). Also called the final nun,
Prefix - When the Hey is prefixed onto a word, it means "The". Here it means "The Land"
Sound Practice
Syllable Practice
hebrew doesn't contain the various forms of "to be" such as is, are, was, were, etc. We have to put them in, it is implied in hebrew
The first sentence below is actually where my father, we put <is> in.
Also, there is no hebrew equiv to a and an, the second sentence below literally says "i father" we translate to "i am a father "
