The bible is like a puzzle, answers to pretty much everything are littered throughout the bible. But to know the fullness of the answer, you have to diligently search. And you have to be close to HIM, being led by the Spirit of God, to come up with full truth. You can put together pieces and come up with fragmented truth based on knowledge of some pieces of the word, but only the Spirit breathes out full truth.
Regarding redemption, He has told us from the beginning that mankind would be saved.... and through many chapters/verses, there are progressive revelations regarding the timing, the redeemer, the purpose... of all things.,, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little.
Chuck Missler shows us part of this truth hidden
prophesied in the Genealogy in Genesis 5, only diligent searchers will find. At the time of Jesus, Jewish people thought
the scepter departed from Judah and the prophesy did not come to pass. Jacob prophesied over Judah in Genesis 49 saying the Scepter would not depart until Messiah came.

Gabriel Predicts John's Birth
5In the days of King Herod of Judea, there was a priest of Abijah's division named Zechariah. His wife was from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
6 Both were righteous in God's sight, living without blame according to all the commands and requirements of the Lord.
7 But they had no children because Elizabeth could not conceive, and both of them were well along in years.
8 When his division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,
9 it happened that he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the sanctuary of the Lord and burn incense.
10 At the hour of incense the whole assembly of the people was praying outside.

The Shepherds and the Angels
